Organizing
A link connects an item, a Project or an Area of Focus to something outside NextAction: the web page you were reading, the email address of the person you are waiting on, a phone number, or a Notion page with your notes. Keep the reference next to the work so you do not have to hunt for it later.
https:// or http://. It opens in a new tab.mailto:, such as mailto:name@example.com. It opens your email app.tel:, such as tel:+15555550123. On a phone it starts a call. You do not choose the type. NextAction works it out from the address and shows it as a small label and icon next to the link. Any other kind of address is refused, so a link can never run a script or open a file on your computer.
If the address is not allowed or is not in a valid shape, NextAction tells you and does not save it. While you process your Inbox you can add a link on the Clarify page, and when you start a new Project you can type links on the form before you save it.
Choose Edit under a link to change its address, its title, or its Notes (up to 2,000 characters). Choose Save when you are done. Choose Remove to delete the link. Removing a link never touches the page or person it pointed to.
NextAction stores the address, title and notes you type and shows them back to you. It does not visit the address, so it cannot tell whether the page still exists and does not read the page. Your links are yours alone. Deleting an item, Project or Area removes its links, and so does deleting your data.
